The crate was found in a back garden in Thatcham where it had been used for the past 70 years as a shed; it came originally from RAF Greenham Common, and was one of five used to ship a single Waco CG-4A glider from the United States to England, where the glider was assembled in preparation for D-Day. Measuring some twenty-four feet long and seven feet wide, the crate appears to have been reused by a US Army carpenter before ending its days in someone's back garden
